What Is Bulgarian Rose
Oil?
You know about the oil that fuels vehicles. And you know about
oil for eating and cooking.
But have you heard the
term “essential oils”?
Like vegetable oil, essential oils
don’t mix with water. They also
come from plants. But
they don’t contain
fatty acids like
vegetable or animal oils.
The name “essential” means that the oil has the
essence, or fragrance, of the plant it comes from.
It doesn’t mean people need it to live.
To make essential oils, people press or steam
plants. They capture the chemical compounds
that create the scent.
Folks usually use the oils for aromatherapy. They
smell good! But putting these oils directly onto
your skin or eating them can be
dangerous. Some are also not
safe for pets—so do your
research or ask a vet before
using essential oils in a home with pets.
