Say It with Your Hands
If you are a hearing person, can you imagine what it would be like not to hear? Naturally, you want to talk with others . . . so to do so, you and the person you’re talking with need to use your hands. If you don’t already know how to sign, you can learn a few phrases in ASL (American Sign Language) so you can communicate with people with hearing loss. Chatting with a Brit? That’s a lesson for another day. Remember, British Sign Language (BSL) uses two hands rather than one. It also involves less spelling and uses different signs than ASL.  I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. — 1 Corinthians 9:22

Like any language, ASL takes study and  practice. Eventually, you can learn to carry  on whole conversations and ask questions.  But sign uses more than just hands. Facial  expressions communicate too. For example,  when you ask questions in ASL, make sure  your face looks curious! Deaf people  don’t hear a question in your voice.  They see it on your face.
